The FAST Five 2024 – Event Information, Instructions, Race Rules, Terms & Conditions

Event Information

  • ·         We are thrilled to be able to invite YOU and your friends to compete at The FAST Five as part of the International Track Meet weekend. The 5km run is open to all levels and abilities (year 9 and above). You have 45 minutes to complete the course to finish on the athletics track at Ngā Puna Wai before International Track Meet starts.

·         The course starts and finishes on the athletics track at Ngā Puna Wai before heading out on the smooth roads around Aidanfield and returns to finish back on the track. Full traffic management is in place.

·         This event was developed for the purpose of providing an income stream to support the International Track and Field Trust to deliver the annual International Track Meet. The charitable objectives of the International Track and Field Trust are:

o    to provide competitive opportunities for aspiring athletes, with a proven record of helping develop international careers for the likes of Tom Walsh, Angie Petty, Lauren Bruce and Hamish Carson, who all got their first taste of international competition in our events; and

o   to showcase current Kiwi stars like Walsh, Bruce, Rosie Elliott, Hamish Kerr, James Preston, and Keeley O’Hagen, against international competition – and we are really looking forward to this year with unprecedented numbers of offshore athletes from around the world showing an interest in this event.

·         The International Track Meet carries Bronze status on the World Athletics Continental Tour, the highest World Athletics ranking possible in New Zealand, giving the athletes involved the opportunity to gain bonus ranking points to assist them in qualifying for major championships, which will see the very top athletes target this meet for their pinnacle performances in the domestic season.

·         Entry is open to all runners, either as an individual or as part of a team of three. If you are entering as a team, please ensure all entrants enter the exact team name when entering, so you can be grouped for results and prize allocation purposes. Please enter under your primary team code and name. If you wish to be eligible for teams in more than 1 category, please email paul@internationaltrackmeet.co.nz with your additional team names/categories.
